2007 hurricane season

let's hope it's a quiet one... interesting piece in thursday's new york times, right here, about the folks who can afford to buying second homes for evacuation. cajun country and hattiesburg, mississippi are both looking good. seven days into the season, and so far - for the gulf coast, at least - all is well. this forecast, found via a google search, is kinda scary.

a blog for reading, and writing

I finally decided to publish a blog. the title, of course, is inspired by the appearance of cormac mccarthy on the oprah winfrey show on june 5, 2007. the main purpose of this blog will be to write about what I'm currently reading, watching, writing. as someone who pays her house note as a journalist, blogging (well, really, spending more time on the computer) goes against every blood cell in my body, but I've ultimately come to the conclusion that I don't get to write enough about what I read and/or see (books, magazines, cereal boxes, DVD wrappers, the cnn newstrail, other blogs). hopefully this will inspire you (and me) to read - and think about what we read - even more.
